Property of Sekhmet

The beautiful Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary reminds me irresistably of the conclusion of The Exaltation of Inanna. Obviously these are very different texts; the BVM is being appealed to in her role as Mediatrix, while Inanna is addressed directly (earlier in the Exaltation) as the cause and cure of Enheduanna's troubles; Mary is perfection and comfort, Inanna is a glorious terror. I doubt there's any real connection between them. But the similarity in form is striking. I wonder if the repeated line "Be it known!" was recited by the listeners to the Exaltation, as "Pray for us" is recited by listeners to the Litany?
