Don't follow me, I'm lost too :)

I've just been poking around in the Web site of the Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, where I found a reviewer reviewing a review, rather than responding to the books themselves. As I've been recently reminded by an unhappy fannish encounter, the hostile misrepresentation of peoples' words and views is a huge, white-hot button for me; and lazy outrage at second-hand (or nth-hand) accounts, like a somewhat dishonest game of "whispers", is all too common online and off. (I've never forgotten this ripping example from 1994.)
For this reason, I want to state explicitly to anyone reading this lj that you should never take my skimpy, amateur, and personally skewed summaries of serious scholars' work as definitive! Don't quote me - I might be talking rubbish. Grab the original source and see for yourself. :)
Thanks folks. *tips hat* btw, I've reblogged lots of photos of Ancient Egypt at my tumblr, discovered all over the Web. You can find them here:
