The best source there is undoubtedly Philippe Germond's book, though not easy to find.

Sydney University has it! Now all I have to do is learn French (again). :-)

All of the best Egyptological literature is in French, hands down. If you've got access to a well-stocked university library, roaming about in the footnotes to the Meeks' book can turn up endless riches.

I have access to *two* well-stocked university libraries. >:-)

(Although not, technically, to the awesome Brunner Collection at Macquarie University. Darnit!)

I had access to the NYU library during the whole time I was in college and graduate school, all the way through my doctorate, but now I'm out in the cold--New York Public Library, baby!

Love the Sekhmet image

Where did you get the great Sekhmet image of her biting a man's neck?

Hi - sorry for taking so long to reply! The image comes from a Mesopotamian sculpture known as Lioness Attacking a Nubian (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5024219).

Thanks for the information!
I know that at times it takes a while to "see" messages that folks post... and we only have so much time in a day to play online!
After I posted the question to you, I poked around your site a bit more and found a different place where you had mentioned where the image came from.
Thank you for the information about the image!

Sehkmet is going to be a goddess featured in a historical fiction book that Bill and I are writing. I have been looking for images online to help spice up the web version of the book that I have posted for my writing friends to critique.. that is how I found your image. Sekhmet isn't a main player in the book, but she WILL appear in a critical judgement scene.

Hopefully we will have the first draft written by Thanksgiving 2008, and then be looking for an agent.
Hopefully you will someday be able to find our book out there... the current best estimate for a title will be :
Children of Ambrose : Kemet

Thanks again for your reply!
Blessings!
Rose
